SXSW just has its Film Title Design Awards. I thought I would post some of my favorites throughout the week. And why I thought it ruled.
1.) Herbst
Title Design: Clemens Wirth
Why?: Although there isn’t a lot of visual effects or motion graphics, it’s obvious that this piece rules hard. There is something beautiful about looking at a miniature world. The depth of field in each shot really draws you in. About a third of the way in the piece changes into a more traditional motion graphics piece, more illustrated and animated. Don’t get me wrong, it was great but I much preferred the dynamic filming of the macro environments. It really draws you in, and then when it switches to a completely different art direction I thought it halted the mesmerization of the film. But shortly after it jumps back into film and sucks you right back in. Truly beautiful.
